§1 Purpose of the Measures – Scope of Services

The courses of the International Study Center Thuringia at the Ernst Abbe University of Applied Sciences Jena prepare participants for the assessment test (Feststellungsprüfung) to determine their eligibility for studies at German universities. The T-courses cover the subjects of German, Mathematics, English, Physics, Computer Science, and Chemistry. The W-courses cover the subjects of German, Mathematics, English, Social Studies, Economics, and Computer Science. The M-courses cover the subjects of German, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Computer Science, and English. Only the teaching services are provided. Successful participation in the assessment test cannot be guaranteed.

 

§2 Duration and Venue of the Measures

The total course duration is approximately 9 months, divided into two semesters.

The weekly course load comprises an average of 32 teaching units, each lasting 45 minutes. Specific adjustments may occur based on the characteristics of the individual week or the availability of lecturers. The total number of teaching units remains unaffected.

The courses are held at the premises of the International Study Center Thuringia at the Ernst Abbe University of Applied Sciences Jena.

§3 Obligations of the International Study Center Thuringia at the Ernst Abbe University of Applied Sciences Jena

The International Study Center Thuringia ensures the proper execution of the course and undertakes to:

• Adhere to the curriculum of the study center or provide suitable replacements and convey the knowledge necessary to achieve the course objectives. Learning success cannot be guaranteed.
• Assign only lecturers qualified by their education and professional experience to conduct the courses.
• Provide the necessary equipment and facilities for the course.
• Provide participants with the learning materials required for the course.

§4 Obligations of the Course Participant

1. The participant undertakes to attend the course regularly and to strive continually to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills. They are expected to complete assigned tasks diligently and actively contribute to their own success. This includes adhering to agreed-upon deadlines and participating actively in the application process.
2. The participant agrees to take part in any assessments of educational progress, if applicable.
3. The participant agrees to follow the instructions of the trainers or educational staff.

§5 Tuition Fees

The agreed tuition fee, including all bank charges, must be paid in euros (€) to the German account of the Studienkolleg. Upon receiving the confirmation of admission, a deposit must be made. This deposit is only refundable if the participant is denied a visa or residence permit. The remaining balance is to be paid within the agreed period (installment agreement) after receiving the admission confirmation. If the tuition fees are not paid on time, the International Study Center Thuringia at the Ernst Abbe University of Applied Sciences Jena reserves the right to withdraw the offer.

§6 Admission Requirements

The completed electronic application must be submitted along with the following documents:

• Proof of German language skills at B1 level
• Copy of passport
• Copy of secondary school graduation certificate in certified translation
• Copy of the transcript of grades in certified translation
• Curriculum vitae (CV)

Only fully submitted applications with all required documents can be accepted. Admission is granted in written form, signed and sealed by the International Study Center Thuringia at the Ernst Abbe University of Applied Sciences Jena.

The study center does not guarantee admission to the assessment test. It is the sole responsibility of the participant to register for the assessment test (FSP) in due time.

Providing false information in the application may lead to immediate expulsion (see §8).

 

§7 Failure to Obtain a Visa

If a participant is unable to attend a booked course due to the competent authorities denying the required student visa, the participant will be refunded the course fee minus a cancellation fee of €500. This refund option applies exclusively in the case of visa denial and is not transferable to other situations.

Special services requested by the student beyond the course itself—such as accommodation placement or university admission services—are not refundable.

All other cases of contract termination and related consequences must follow the applicable legal provisions.

 

§8 Expulsion Due to Misconduct

If the participant violates German law or commits a serious breach of generally accepted ethical norms, the International Study Center Thuringia at the Ernst Abbe University of Applied Sciences Jena reserves the right to terminate the contract and exclude the participant from the course program.

In particular, the following are considered breaches of contract:

• Attending the course under the influence of drugs
• Disseminating discriminatory or radical ideologies
• Threatening or committing acts of violence against others or property
• Repeatedly disrupting classes at the Studienkolleg
• Violations of the study regulations

 

§9 Data Protection

1. The study center respects the participant’s personal rights. It collects, processes, and uses data only in accordance with applicable data protection laws and only as necessary to fulfill the purpose of the contract. All employees are bound by data confidentiality.
2. The study center does not pass on any participant data to third parties unless agreed with the participant in advance.
3. Exceptions include data shared with the district government or the competent immigration authority to clarify matters relating to the assessment test or residence permit/visa. The study center may disclose relevant data such as internal exam grades, attendance records, payment details, and misconduct or false declarations.

 

§10 Cancellation Policy

1. Right of Withdrawal
   You have the right to withdraw from this contract within fourteen days without giving any reason. The withdrawal period is fourteen days from the date of contract conclusion.
   To exercise your right of withdrawal, you must inform us (Internationales Studienzentrum Thüringen an der Ernst-Abbe-Hochschule Jena, Otto-Schott-Str. 41, D-07745 Jena, E-Mail: info@studienzentrum-thueringen.de) by means of a clear declaration (e.g., a letter sent by post or email) of your decision to withdraw from this contract.
   To meet the withdrawal deadline, it is sufficient for you to send the notification of exercising the right of withdrawal before the expiry of the withdrawal period.
2. Consequences of Withdrawal
   If you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse you for all payments received from you without undue delay and at the latest within fourteen days from the day on which we received notification of your withdrawal from this contract.
   For this repayment, we will use the same means of payment that you used for the original transaction unless expressly agreed otherwise; in no case will you be charged fees for this repayment.

This contract is governed by German law and is binding for both parties after booking. The contract is valid without a signature or seal.
