Applicant Criteria
Applicants must fulfil the following criteria for admission to the study centre:
Knowledge of the German language
The basic requirement is sufficient knowledge of German. You can prove this with the certificate of a successfully completed examination at level Grundstufe II / III (after approx. 400 - 600 lessons), level B1 according to the ‘Common European Framework of Reference for Languages’ .
Secondary school leaving certificate
You have a school-leaving certificate that enables you to study in your home country or is comparable to the German Abitur, but does not yet entitle you to study at a German university.
Student visa
Before entering the Federal Republic of Germany, applicants must apply for a student or student applicant visa at the German embassy (or consulate) in their country. Please note that it is no longer possible to convert a tourist or other visa into a student visa once you have entered Germany.
Applicants from China, India and Vietnam must submit an APS certificate. Since 1 January 2020, applicants from Mongolia no longer require an APS certificate.
Proof of sufficient financing
The International Study Centre Thuringia is subject to fees! Applicants must have sufficient funds (financing must be guaranteed). Please contact us directly for details. During your stay at the Study Centre, you may be able to work part-time on the basis of the work permit issued by the Foreigners' Registration Office, but you will not have sufficient time to do so in addition to your visit to the Study Centre, nor would the income from this cover the cost of living and the fees for the Study Centre.
